At Moms on Call, we know that routine isn’t just a set of rules. It’s the rhythm that gives life to our days and the foundation that helps families thrive. Our certified consultants are not only seasoned pediatric nurses. They’re parents walking the walk right alongside MOC families.
Today, we’re pulling back the curtain on the everyday routines of three incredible Moms on Call consultants: Sierah Hicks, Sydney Smith, and Alexandra Pereira. Each one brings heart, hustle and humor to their days with their little ones — not just for their families, but for the many families they support through finding their rhythm in the first 4 years. These routines fit the family’s work schedules, childcare arrangements and ensure plenty of time for sleep for growing little ones.
As a full-time school nurse, Sierah balances a demanding job with the needs of her two young kids—Stella (5) and Lincoln (2). With both parents working full-time, it’s all about routine, teamwork and a lot of love.
5:00 AM: The day begins before the sun rises. Sierah pours herself a cup of coffee and sits for a few quiet moments with a devotional. This time is hers: peaceful, grounding and essential to catch her breath before the chaos of the days.
6:30 AM: Lincoln, her two-year-old, is the early riser. Sierah helps him get ready for the day with all the loving, wriggly energy a toddler brings.
7:00 AM: Out the door they go! Lincoln is dropped at daycare by 7:15 and Sierah heads to work at the school by 7:30. Meanwhile, Dad takes Stella to school. It's all hands on deck!
3:30 PM: Once school is out, Sierah carves out a moment for herself with a quick workout. We love a quick mobility workout like these from Coach Dane!
4:15 PM: Time for pickups. Sierah grabs Lincoln and Dad picks up Stella. Everyone’s back under one roof by 5:00 PM, just in time for some much-needed family playtime.
6:00 PM: Dinner is served. It’s simple, intentional time together at the table.
6:30 PM: Baths, bubbles and lots of giggles set the tone to wind down and get ready for bed.
7:00 PM: Books and snuggles with Lincoln come first, followed by Stella’s bedtime at 7:45 PM. Those last sleepy moments are Sierah’s favorite.
8:00 PM: With the house finally quiet, Sierah showers and relaxes, knowing that she’ll get up tomorrow and do it all again
“Structure allows us to enjoy the moments more fully,” Sierah says. “We’re not guessing what comes next—we’re in it, together.”
Sydney is a mostly stay-at-home mom with three young boys: Foster (5), Ford (3), and Mac (6 months). She also works part-time as a nurse at Children’s of Alabama hospital and her husband works from home, which is a huge help during the hustle of the day!
6:30 AM: The day starts with strong coffee and shared smiles. She and her husband savor a few quiet sips together before the house fills with the sounds of littles.
6:45-7:00 AM: Mac, the baby, is usually the first to wake, followed closely by his big brothers. Thanks to a trusty green light system in the boys’ shared room, mornings are smooth and predictable. If the boys wake before the light turns green, they can play together in their room. They come downstairs to start the day at the green light!
8:00-8:30 AM: Breakfast, packing lunches and getting dressed. It's noisy and silly and we love it!
8:45 AM: Sydney heads out the door to drop off Foster and Ford at school while baby Mac stays with Dad, who works from home. Divide and conquer for the win.
9:00 AM: Mac naps, and Sydney dives into the golden window of productivity: laundry, straightening up, emails: whatever fits into 90 minutes of uninterrupted quiet.
11:00 AM: Baby’s up! The next chunk of time is for errands , adventures or just soaking up time with her youngest while the house is (mostly) calm.
1:00 PM: Time to pick up the big boys. Sometimes Mac comes along or Sydney gets him down for nap just before she leaves.
2:30 PM: Toddler nap + quiet time for the 5-year-old. With three energetic boys, this is special time where everyone recharges for the rest of the day.
4:00 PM: Everyone’s awake again and it’s back to full-throttle fun: snacks, playtime and kitchen dance breaks while prepping dinner starting around 5:30pm.
6:00 PM: Family dinner, followed by a divide-and-conquer bedtime routine. Dad bathes the bigs while Sydney handles Mac’s wind-down.
7:00 PM: Baby Mac is down.
7:30 PM: Wrestling, brushing teeth and bedtime stories with the older boys. Dad usually helps the big kids get settled while Sydney uses this time to clean up the kitchen, prep lunches for the next day and pull out tomorrow’s clothes in the ‘get ready’ bin.
8:00 PM: Lights out for the kids.
8:05 PM: Parents collapse on the couch. A beautiful, exhausting season of little boys!
“Our house is full of movement,” Sydney laughs. “But the routine keeps us grounded. It gives us space for the beautiful, spontaneous moments.”
Alexandra is a part-time aesthetic nurse injector and mom of two toddlers: Madison (3) and Jackson (1.5). With the help of her parents and the support of a hardworking spouse, she juggles work and home with intentional rhythm.
7:00 AM: The day begins with snuggles and breakfast prep. This slow start is the calm before the busy.
8:00 AM: Breakfast as a family. Alexandra uses this time to connect with her kids before everyone heads in different directions.
9:30 AM: Madison and Jackson are dropped off at their grandparents’ house so Alexandra can work her 10am–7pm shift. Her husband is already off at his structural engineering job by 6:00 AM.
10:30 AM–3:30 PM: The morning at grandparents includes playtime, visits to the park and snacks.
12:00PM Lunch with the grandparents
1:30-3:30PM: Naptime for both kids. One of the beautiful parts of a small age gap between kids is similar schedules!
5:00 PM: Dinner with grandparents wraps up the day, and Dad picks the kids up around 5:30 PM. Once they’re home, there’s time for a walk, backyard play or a favorite show before bedtime.
7:15 PM: Alexandra arrives home from work, and the family reunites to do the bedtime routine together —snuggles, books, and lights out.
“Even though I work later hours, we make our evenings count,” Alexandra shares. “We do bedtime as a family and soak up every sweet moment.”
From early alarms to nighttime snuggles, our consultants are walking proof that routines create freedom, not restriction. Whether it’s quiet mornings, midday resets or evening chaos, these rhythms aren’t about perfection. They’re about presence.
