Shamrock Pretzel Pop

Shamrock Pretzel Pop Craft & Recipe

Just in time for St. Patrick's Day, we've got a fun and simple treat to indulge in with your little ones! Whether you're looking for a yummy treat for a class party or just a fun way to involve the kiddos in the kitchen, this treat is yummy and fun! The best part is that this treat was prepped, cooled and ready to eat in no time (about 30-45 mins)!

This sweet and salty recipe makes about 15 pretzel pops, more or less, depending on how generous you (or your littles) are with the chocolate. We ended up making single pretzels as well, for a smaller treat! We also chose to use the white chocolate candy melts so we could add our green and gold in the sprinkles (this is the fun part).

Shamrock Pretzel Pops for Ages 3+

Ingredients:

  • 1 Bag of white candy melts 12 oz
  • Assortment of sprinkles (Green and Gold)
  • 45 Mini pretzel twists
  • 15 Small pretzel sticks
  • Parchment (or wax) paper
  • Microwave safe bowl

Directions:

  • Lay out a piece of parchment or wax paper on your counter or baking sheet.
  • Begin with 1 cup of candy melts in a microwave safe bowl. Heat for 3-4 mins in 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until melted.
  • Let cool to a safe temperature for you and your little to dip the pretzels.
  • Dip one of the small pretzel twists in the chocolate at a time.
    • Shake any excess chocolate off.
  • Lay the dipped pretzel twists three in a group, with each of their bottoms touching in the shape of a shamrock.
  • Next dip the small pretzel stick 3/4 of the way into the melted chocolate and place between the three pretzels.
  • After this, we added a small amount of chocolate in the middle of the shamrock shape where the pretzels meet to seal the pretzels together.
  • Add SPRINKLES!!
    • Let your little grab a handful and go at it!! It is so fun to see how precise they can be in sprinkle placement!
  • Parent tip:
    • With little ones, keeping the parchment paper on a cookie sheet can keep the sprinkles a bit more contained!
    • Keep a warm washcloth nearby to easily wipe your little ones hands in between dipping and sprinkling!
    • Have fun!! Nothing is better than just being in the moment. Let there be a bit of a mess, and have a lick off that chocolate spoon at the end (this is a must)!!
  • Now we wait, but not too long. If you need this special treat in a hurry, you can place them in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes to cool. Otherwise, leave out for 30 minutes to harden in place, and enjoy!

We hope you enjoy making (and eating) this treat as much as we did! And even though we won't be sending in homemade treats to the classroom this year, we will be gifting these yummy treats to the teachers! Nothing says thank you more than a yummy chocolate treat!
